How to adopt an animal

If you want to adopt either a dog or a cat, we recommend you to go to an animal protecting society or to the municipal kennels you should find in most towns. Please see below a list of more than 200 animal protecting societies operating in Spain. Before going there, you’d better phone and ask about visiting hours. The protecting society will advise and inform you about the different animals they have available for adoption, as well as about the type of care these animals need and the obligations that having a pet implies for his owner.

Collaboration with acogelos.org

Since 2005, the Affinity Foundation is collaborating with the acogelos.org Internet portal with the objective to fight together against pet abandonment, promoting and encouraging adoptions.
The acogelos.org portal serves as a meeting point between homes and shelters, kennels and other centres which take abandoned pets in, and the families or individuals who are interested in adopting one of those animals.

On this portal, you will have the opportunity to see more 1.000 filing cards of dogs and cats available for adoption in more than 80 shelters located all over Spain. It will also allow you to hang a note in case you have yourself found a lost animal or your own pet is missing.
