"Let yourself be loved"
This campaign is aimed at conveying knowledge about the beneficial effects pets have on people, with a view to preventing abandonment.
Alter the emblematic "He would never do that. Don’t abandon him" slogan and 20 years of intense work in defence of pets, in 2005 and 2006, the Affinity Foundation launched that new sensitizing campaign which proposes to foster social reflection so as to put an end to abandonment.
The campaign, based on the message: “Let yourself be loved”, intends to emphasize the valuable role played by dogs and cats as a constant and inexhaustible source of joy and affection, besides being a great example of faithfulness.
It also proposes to foster social recognition of the unconditional love which dogs and cats, those extraordinary beings, shower on us day after day.
Pets help us to fight loneliness and stress; they keep us in good physical shape and make it easier for us to escape a sedentary life-style; besides, in our increasingly technology-oriented world, they provide us with a reality that makes us get closer to nature.
The Affinity Foundation had the pleasure to enjoy the presence and support of two of its Friends of Honour during the presentations of this campaign.
In 2005, the campaign presentation ceremony took place in Madrid in presence and with the collaboration of Bertín Osborne, who was the champion of the “Let yourself be loved” campaign that year.

The singer and television host spoke about his personal experience with pets since, besides his five dogs and several cats, he keeps ninety horses on his rural estate near Seville. He also explained how beneficial animals have been in his life and, more concretely, how important his German shepherd dog, called Lex, was to him when he was going through very difficult times. Bertin ended his speech by thanking Lex, his faithful friend, for having provided him with such strong feelings of security, trust, support and company.
In 2006, it was the television host and fashion model, Anne Igartiburu, the personality in charge of supporting the campaign.
Anne emphasized that the campaign was efficiently transmitting knowledge about the great benefits animals are bringing to human beings. According to her, the best thing we can do in order to return all the love they give us so freely is “to treat them the way they deserve to be treated, providing them with the kind of care and attention they require and, of course, to love them dearly”.
