Oh Miau Dog!
On Oh Miau Dog! we talk about the emotional bond we create with our dogs and cats, about the challenges and difficulties of having a pet and about the joy they bring us.
Together with Martita de Graná, our guests and experts, we bust myths and discuss important issues such as positive reinforcement training, living with pets and abandonment. Oh Miau Dog! is a vodcast with animals in which we invite you to get to know them better.
Episode 1
In this episode, we talk to Martita de Graná and Jorge Bolaños, who share their experience as pet parents to their dog Risa andthe challenges of training and socialising her. And, Isabel Buil, Director of the Affinity Foundation, is talking to us about the main causes of pet abandonment, the crucial role of shelters and how we can confront this problem in our country.
Episode 2
In this episode, Martita de Graná and Roma talk about their experience with dogs and cats and bust myths, such as the supposed incompatibility of dogs and cats and the idea that cats can’t be trained. They highlight the importance of responsible adoption and reflect on the responsibilities of being a pet parent. Jaume Battló, Director of the Affinity Foundation Chair for Animals and Health, addresses questions about animal behaviour and the bond we form with them.

In this episode, Martita de Graná chats to actor and director Abril Zamoraabout her life with two cats and two dogs, and tackles a key problem every Christmas: animals are not presents or toys, they are our companions for life. Abril shares her experience of adopting and her profound affection for her pets. Together with Laura Rodríguez, Head of Communication at the Affinity Foundation,they reflect on the importance of not giving animals as presents for Christmas, highlighting that although the intention could be good, deciding to live with an animal should be a responsible choice not an impulsive present.
Episode 4
In this episode, influencer Aretha Fusté pays us a visit with her dog Joey to talk with Martita de Graná and Maribel Vila, an expert animal trainer, about the humanisation of pets and the importance of proper training. They highlight that dogs and cats should be trained from the moment they arrive at home and that even adult animals can learn and change their behaviour. Maribel Vilaunderlines the value of positive reinforcement in training, using reinforcements such as rewards and petting, while also establishing clear boundaries. They explain that it is vital to detect the causes of bad behaviour, such as aggressiveness or excessive barking, and to involve experts if necessary. Training not only improves animals’ behaviour but also strengthens the bond between them and their families.

In this episode, YouTuber Judith Tiral discusses how adopting her dog Pedrito has transformed her life, making her happier, more patient and thoughtful. Together with Martita de Graná, she talks about how our bond with animals is as deep as with friends or family members, and how living with dogs makes us happier. Jaume Fatjó, an expert in animal behaviour,explains that living with animals improves our physical and mental wellbeing and that many people consider them their closest confidants. Although society has advanced and is increasingly pet friendly, there are still barriers to finding accommodation and travelling with pets, showing that there is still progress to be made.

In the latest episode of Oh Miau Dog!, Martita de Graná talks to actor and writer Núria Gago, who shares her experience with her dog Rita and highlights the importance of heart-to-heart communication with animals, especially at difficult times. Núria also reflects on the responsibilities involved in being a pet parent and the importance of seeking professional help, as she did when Rita suffered separation anxiety. Isabel Buil, Director of the Affinity Foundation, explains the barriers that still need to be broken down, such as the difficulties of accessing and renting accommodation and how, despite advances in understanding and rights, there is still a lot to learn about the benefits of living with animals.
